The cover images for La-La Land’s 2019 reissued soundtrack CDs for the original movies and TV series. While it’s undoubtedly refreshing to see designs using the original movie poster imagery for a change (particularly I think Conquest is superb) it really winds me up to see the mess they’ve made of Planet. I’ve seen this horrible composite image used for a DVD/Blu-Ray edition as well. It looks perfectly fine until you realise the bottom half of the picture shows characters from the TV series! That’s Chief Urko on his white mare, accompanied by Councillor Zaius, in a still from (I think) The Legacy.
Someone who knows (and cares about) the Apes saga would not have used this image.It may be trivial in the grand scheme of things, but for pity’s sake show some respect for the material. This is a well-loved fandom they’re messing with, not fucking Twilight.
