Here's Johnny! Fifty years ago tonight, 9th February 1973, saw Paul Williams a.k.a. Virgil from Battle For The Planet Of The Apes make a surreal appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. Williams performed the Jimmy van Heusen / Johnny Burke composition Here's That Rainy Day complete with sophisticated cancer-stick before taking part in a short interview with Carson, plugging the imminent release of Battle.
Unfortunately I couldn't find a decent quality video without the big ugly logo on it. At least my watermark is tasteful and unobtrusive.
The Apes will be back Saturday week - 18th Feb.
